Conversational AI Workshop

In the upcoming summer semester, the sebis chair is now offering the Conversational AI Workshop. The workshop includes an introduction to state-of-the-art technologies for conversational agents as well as an opportunity to design your own agent with the help of your advisors.

 

This is a certificate course, so upon completion, you will receive a certificate of participation and also increase your chances of doing a NLP-related thesis at our chair. Additionally, successful completion of the workshop will give NLP seminar students a 0.3 grade bonus. More details can be found on the workshop’s webpage.

Abschlussarbeit - Software-Zertifizierung in der Medizintechnik

Die Medizintechnik spielt eine wichtige Rolle in unserem Alltag. Umso wichtiger ist es, dass wir der Technik vertrauen können. Vertrauen basiert traditionell auf Standards, die Gesellschaft und Politik entwerfen und die durch ausführende Stellen (etwa TÜV) verwendet werden, um deren Einhalten (sog. Compliance) zu überprüfen und als Zertifikate abzubilden.

Doch längst unterliegen die Entwicklungsprozesse in der Medizintechnik grundlegenden Veränderungen durch Innovation auf mehreren Ebenen. Erstens, die Entwicklung findet stark vernetzt, global und mit höherer Geschwindigkeit statt. D.h. es werden Hardware- sowie Software-Komponenten unterschiedlicher Hersteller eingesetzt. Zweitens, mit neuartigen Technologien wie ML / KI können neue Anwendung realisiert werden, die Grundfunktionalitäten aus anderen Bereichen übertragen (etwa Bilderkennung). Drittens, die Grenze zwischen mittelbarer und unmittelbarer Zuordnung eines Geräts zum Begriffsraum der Medizintechnik (etwa Ernährungsapps oder Smart Watches mit Blutsauerstoffsättigungsfunktion) ist nicht klar zu bestimmen, was sich u.a. auf die Ausgestaltung der Regulatorik auswirkt. Diese Veränderungen bringen einen erhöhten Aufwand für etablierte Akteure, erschweren aber zugleich den Zugang für KMU und Startups, was sich negativ auf Innovationen auswirken kann.

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollen die genannten Herausforderungen aus wirtschaftsinformatischer Sicht analysiert werden. Zuerst sollen einschlägige Verordnungen (z.B. die EU MDR) und das Verhalten der beteiligten Akteure (z.B. Unternehmen, Prüfinstitute, Zertifizierungsstellen) untersucht werden. Anschließend soll eine „Landkarte“ erstellt werden, um die notwendigen Prozesse, Entscheidungen, Dokumente etc. aus Sicht eines nicht mit der Materie vertrauten Produkt- und Dienstentwicklers (z.B. Startup) zu beschreiben.

Der erwartete Umfang und Detaillierungsgrad der Modelle wird unter Berücksichtigung der Art der Arbeit (Bachelor oder Masterarbeit) mit dem Betreuer festgelegt.

The chair of software engineering for business information systems and the professorship for Legal Tech at the Technical University of Munich are organizing an interdisciplinary summer school on Legal Tech for PhD students and early career postdocs.

 

Mission

The mission of the 1st Munich LegalTech Summer School is to bring together excellent junior researchers with computer science and legal background to foster an interdisciplinary exchange. With talks from world-class experts, collaborative practical lab sessions, and discussion sessions, we want to educate the next generation of LegalTech researchers. Thereby, we want to examine the different sub areas of the research, from a legal, as well as from a computer science point of view, with talks including the topics:

  • Natural Legal Language Processing
  • Court Case Outcome Prediction
  • Legal Data Science
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Argument Mining
  • Ethics and Fairness

The focus of the summer school will be on empirical research. Therefore, an important part will be hands-on lab sessions where participants are encouraged to apply their newly acquired knowledge on real datasets and problems within interdisciplinary teams.

 

Participation and Safety

We will take all possible measures to enable safe on-site participation in Munich according to local health and safety regulations. If on-site participation or travelling is not possible, or you feel unsafe to do so, you will be able to participate remotely. For planning reasons, please indicate in your application whether you would want to participate on-site if possible or prefer remote participation. This is merely a first indication and not binding.

 

Application and Costs

Participation in the Summer School will be free of charge. Costs for travel and accommodation for all participants will be covered through travel grants. Registration will close 25th of April 2021.

The number of participants is limited to 30 in order to provide an interactive learning atmosphere. We invite applications from PhD students and recently graduated postdocs from the fields of computer science, law, and related fields. Searching Students for Web App Lab Practical Course (WS 19-20)

We are searching students for the practical course Master Lab Course Web Applications.

Our basic requirement is familiarity with web development technologies and frameworks (React/AngularJS, MongoDB, Express, NodeJS).

You will work in a team to develop the “auTOMate... your reports of technical and organizational measures” project from Dominik Huth. The project description, requirements, and expected prior knowledge can be found here.

Since we have very few slots left, applicants are selected based on First Come First Serve rule.
