Open Student Research Positions at sebis

The Chair of Software Engineering for Business Information Systems is looking for highly motivated students to join the team as student research assistants!

 

We are currently involved in several exciting research projects, and for these we are searching for student involvement. In particular, research assistance is required in the areas of:

  • Privacy, Privacy Compliance, and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs)
  • Efficient Transformers / Text Generation using Transformers in Natural Language Processing
  • Data Privacy in Natural Language Processing
  • Conversational AI and Information Retrieval using Natural Language Processing
  • Fact Verification and Natural Language Inference
  • General Natural Language Processing Research

Within these research areas, your skills and expertise would be required to aid in a series of tasks, not limited to but including:

  • Preparation of educational / course materials
  • Literature reviews
  • Scientific paper writing
  • Communication with industry partners
  • Software development + web application engineering

As part of your role as a student research assistant, you would be gaining practical experience in an active research project, with the opportunity to gain novel insights into current research. At the same time, you will be able to sharpen your research skills, while working flexible hours (5-20 hours / week, onsite in Garching or remote) on diverse and exciting tasks.

For these positions, we prefer students meeting the following requirements:

  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Independent way of working
  • Great analytical skills and the desire to contribute to research
  • Personability!
  • Nice to have, but not strictly required:
    • Academic writing experience
    • Full-stack web development experience
    • Programming experience
