Open PhD positions in the area of Software Engineering at the Technical University of Munich

The chair of Software Engineering for Business information systems (sebis) at the Technical University of Munich is looking for excellent candidates for our research projects in the following areas:

  • Software platforms and ecosystems
  • (Meta-) model-based system development
  • Innovative approaches to software architectures and systems engineering, e.g.
    • Integration of machine learning in enterprise information systems
    • Use of machine learning in software development  (architecture design, software and systems of systems monitoring and analysis)
    • Blockchain-based distributed system architectures
    • Models at runtime
  • Development of domain-specific languages (adaptive case management, smart contracts, rule-based systems, …)

Your responsibilities

  • Teaching support for our software engineering courses
  • Supervision of Bachelor and Master theses
  • Participation in and management of research and agile development projects

Your qualifications

  • Excellent grades in Master and Bachelor studies
  • Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience in:
    • designing, building and deploying complex software systems
    • software architectures
    • knowledge management
    • natural language processing and machine learning
  • Creativity, openness to work in interdisciplinary research projects
  • Strong communication skills and the  ability to lead software development in distributed multicultural teams
  • Advanced English speaking and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn German
