Three PhD Positions in the Area of Natural Language Processing for Medical Applications

The Chair of Software Engineering for Business Information Systems (sebis) at the Technical University of Munich is looking for outstanding candidates for three PhD positions to be filled on August 1st 2025 to enlarge our research team working on NLP for medical applications. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research at the intersection of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Software Engineering, with a focus on medical applications.
  • Manage interdisciplinary projects with academic and medical domain experts.
  • Support Software Engineering and NLP education for Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Informatics and Data Science.
  • Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.

Your Qualifications

  • An outstanding Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in developing NLP applications.
  • Proficiency in Software Engineering and Data Science techniques.
  • High motivation to create innovative NLP solutions addressing business, medical and societal needs in collaboration with industry partners.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience contributing to software development within distributed, multicultural teams.
  • Proficiency in German is required (B1 certificate).
