Abstract: A key question in strategic IT management of Multinational Companies (MNCs) is the degree of harmonization of IT across different entities and the IT governance structure to achieve and ongoingly manage this target state. Starting from a Gobal IT Management Benchmarking that BCG conducted with 13 MNCs, the presentation briefly describes challenges and trends driving harmonization, shows what governance models are applied in practice, and discusses critical success factors for achieving and managing IT commonality in MNCs.
